Kendal is 10 miles away, Carnforth 6 miles, the seaside atmosphere of Morecambe 13 miles, and the city of Lancaster is just 12 miles away. There's a delightful 12-hole golf course nearby. The rugged beauty of Leighton Moss nature reserve covers more than 300 acres, and there's a foreshore of over 4000 acres close by. Of the 250 or so species of birds recorded here, some 75 regularly breed in the RSPB sanctuary.
At Arnside, the 250ft Arnside Knot rises above the village and overlooks the River Kent to Grange-over-Sands. Ancient monuments, historic houses, glorious gardens, ruined castles, interesting folk museums and colourful craft centres abound throughout this delightful area at the foot of the legendary Lake District.
- Directions
- Travelling from the North or South on the M6, exit at junction 35. At the roundabout take the A6 North signposted Kendal/Milnthorpe. Continue on the A6 for approximately 3 miles and after passing the Water Garden Restaurant and the Esso petrol station, take the second left turn (next to Hale Garage). Follow the lane until you find Silver Ridge Park on your right hand side.
