Description
Gilsland Caravan Park has been run by the the Macnair family since the 1930’s and is a wonderfully relaxed, friendly, caravan and camping park. It is perfectly located on the Western outskirts of North Berwick, within easy walking distance from the Town Centre & Harbour, Railway station, Bus station, Sports centre and Indoor pool.

There are two parks at Gilsland, the camping and touring facility is in the older part of the park, with spacious camping facilities set up in bays, beautifully planted with shrubs and fruit trees which provide both privacy and shade with a central children’s play area and sandpits in the camping bays.

The newer park, houses the static holiday caravans for sale and for rent and has a more open outlook, with large areas of grass and boasts fantastic views to the Lammermuir Hills to the south and Fidra, the Firth of Forth and over to Fife to the North and Berwick Law to the East.
Other recreation
Own Livery with Grazing can be supplied at the park given prior Notice.
Tourist Attractions
North Berwick is an attractive seaside resort and harbour town located on the southern side of the Firth of Forth, where it meets the North Sea. Most of the busy town’s “going’s on” happens around the harbour, which is nestled in between the two sandy bays. Looking out to the Forth, the sea is dotted with islands of volcanic rock. The most famous of which is the Bass Rock, with its towering cliffs, this is home to the world’s largest and most spectacular Gannet colony. Fidra, another of the islands off the coast of North Berwick, is thought to be the inspiration for Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure island. Boat trips to these and other islands can be arranged at the harbour to view the wonderful wildlife of Gannets, Puffins, Sealions and more. Fishing and Deep Sea Diving trips can also be arranged.

North Berwick makes an excellent base for exploring the sandy bays & rocky coves of the scenic Firth of Forth. If you venture inland you can discover the beautiful unspoilt countryside of East Lothian (“The Garden of Scotland”) including the picturesque villages of Stenton, Garvald, & Dirleton and the historic county town of Haddington. Along the “Coastal Trail” there’s lots to see at Dunbar and other fishing harbours.

North Berwick itself offers the visitor a good variety of shops cafes & restaurants, as well as a full range accommodation. There are plenty of places to walk, including, North Berwick Law, a lump of volcanic rock some 613ft high, and although steep in places, the views from the top are one of the best views in the area. The Lammermuir Hills are also a mere 30 minute drive from North Berwick for those who like hill walking.

Today, visitors from all over Scotland, Britain, & the rest of the world are attracted to this charming coastal holiday resort with it’s pleasant situation, lovely beaches & scenery, yet just half an hour, by car or train from Scotland’s capital city Edinburgh.

With lots of things to see & do, in and around East Lothian, you’ll find it a relaxing place for an interesting and healthy holiday.

Children love the safe, sandy beaches, so it’s a popular place for a family summer holiday, and the pleasant East Coast climate makes North Berwick an ideal choice for a short holiday in the Spring, Summer Or Autumn.

Many Visitors return year after year, just like the Puffins and Gannets, so why not discover North Berwick yourself?
