- St Andrews, the Mecca of golf is an ancient and beautiful burgh. Legend tells that the relics of the apostle Andrew were brought to Scotland by St. Regulus who, having been shipwrecked off the Fife coast, founded a church on the site where the town now stands. St. Andrew was to become the patron saint of Scotland.
St. Andrews can be explored best on foot, the combination of Medieval, Victorian and Edwardian streets forming one of the most attractive towns in Britain. Visitors will be amazed to find famous landmarks such as the Castle, Cathedral, University and Harbour alongside a variety of shops, restaurants, theatres, museums and art galleries.
