Herne Bay has attractive seafront gardens with a distinctive clock tower and central bandstand which holds regular free concerts.The beach holds a blue flag and Whitstable is a working harbour with a fresh fish and seafood market, locally caught oysters can be sampled from several restaurants. Charming shops offer arts and crafts.
Margate is a short distance away which is a bracing resort with generous sands and a bustling funfair theme park, shell grotto and caves carved from chalk a thousand years ago. Inland, Canterbury, a city, which dates back to Medieval times with many buildings and streets still remaining, gives a fascinating view of past times.
