- Description
- "Scotland's sunshine coast"
Although part of one of the forests of the Highlands, our Club Site at Nairn is level and sheltered. The nearby Moray Firth is frequented by dolphins and you are likely to spot a red squirrel on Site.
The town of Nairn hosts many events. The Book and Arts Festival is in May, the International Jazz Festival in July and the Highland Feast – of food and drink – towards the end of September. Nairn’s Central Beach is both sandy and accessible. It is a Blue Flag beach and holds a Keep Scotland Beautiful Seaside Award. Take a trip from Nairn harbour to see the school of resident, bottlenose dolphins. There are many walks in the area. They include a circular walk from Site and a riverside walk from the harbour to the castle. To the east of Site is the coastal pine forest known as Culbin Forest. Inverness is around 15 miles away. A vibrant, new city, it also has an old town, the Caledonian Canal and the River Ness with lovely walks. Fort George is a garrison, built after the Jacobite Rising. Other fortified buildings and castles in the area include Kilravock, Cawdor or Lochindorb Castle. Cruise up the Caledonian Canal to Loch Ness. Fish for salmon and trout in the Rivers Nairn and Findhorn. Those travelling through Inverness should follow the signs to Aberdeen to pick up the A96 towards Nairn. - Other facilities
