The whole world stops over at Lourdes, small town nestling around the sanctuary and at the bottom of the castle.
Lourdes radiates like a call. Unique place for meeting and reconciling. All the continents are represented on the esplanade.
All nationalities mix into one community. Pilgrims and tourists discover the Grotto, the crypt and the underground St Pie X basilica which, in its grandiose simplicity, can accommodate 20,000 faithful.
Processions, from Easter until October, take place daily by the Grotto.
The torchlight procession requested by the Holy Mary to Bernadette is impressive by its reverence.
The Pyrenees National Park stretches over 45,700 ha and was founded in 1967.
Its missions are varied:
It protects the environment, the biodiversity, the landscapes and sites such as the Cirque of Gavarnie, listed world heritage by U.N.E.S.C.O. The National Park has the mission to protect and highlight the natural and cultural resources. It encourages sustainable development in the Pyrenean region.
When you leave the Soleil du Pibeste campsite, you will discover the National Park, its heritage thanks to the rambles organised by Pierre, the courier. You will be able to observe marmots, agile izards and vultures. You will also be able to photograph the local Pyrenean flowers. The sun rising over lakes with clear bluish waters will represent a change of scenery. In the evening, you will come back to the campsite filled with energy and memories.
