- The local area has a number of fine bowling greens and golf courses. Turnberry is only 30 miles away. For walkers, the start of the Southern Upland Way starts in nearby Port Patrick, and for anglers there is some fine sea angling (conger eel etc.) and freshwater fishing (salmon and trout).
Day trips to Ireland are very popular. P&O run from Cairnryan to Larne, and Stenna Sealink run from Stranraer to Larne. - Directions
- Cairnryan is 4 miles north of Stranraer on the A77. Glasgow, Dumfries and Gretna are less than two hours away, and Ayr one hour away.
