- Tourist Attractions
- A wildlife reserve and geology trail are near the site. You can join guided walks of the reserve during July and August.
A 3.5 mile walk follows part of the John Muir coastal trail, and you can visit his birthplace in Dunbar.
Dunbar town, less than three miles from the site, hosts a traditional music festival in September. It has several places to eat and sandy beaches nearby. Its position on the east coast gives it plenty of sunshine.
The East Links Family Park has animals and a narrow gauge railway.
The Museum of Flight at East Fortune includes Scotland’s only Concorde aircraft.
See puffins, seal pups and dolphins at the Scottish Seabird Centre in North Berwick.
Hailes Castle is a beautifully sited ruin of a 13th century manor.
Sample whisky or other alcoholic beverages at the local distillery – Glenkinchie – and other nearby breweries like Belhaven.
Edinburgh is a car journey away. There is a park and ride service from Newcraighall, five miles from the city. The train also goes into the city centre and tour buses take visitors round the many sights.
Follow in the footsteps of the Queen and the Royal Family on the Royal Yacht Britannia in her berth at Edinburgh’s historic port of Leith.
