The pretty wool town of Moffat is home to this popular Club Site. It makes a great stopping off point for journeys through Scotland as well as to linger and explore the beauty of the Scottish Lowlands.
Tourist Attractions
Moffat town was home to William Wallace, Robert the Bruce and Air Chief Marshall Lord Hugh Dowding. It is known for its floral displays and has many specialist shops, including the Moffat Toffee Shop.
There is live, traditional Scottish music at the local pub during the summer. There are many other local events during the year, including a Classic Car rally in June.
The Dawyck Botanic Garden near Peebles is one of the Royal Botanic Gardens of Scotland. Way-marked trails wind through its collections, which include some of the tallest trees in Britain.
Grey Mare's Tail Nature Reserve is home to a spectacular 200ft waterfall in a dramatic moorland setting.
Gretna Gateway Outlet Village has 50 shops, offering discounts of up to 50 per cent on high street prices.
Dalescone Farm Fun has a large indoor play area with ball pools and slides as well as plenty of outdoor play equipment to keep the children occupied.
Kagyu Samye Ling at Eskdalemuir is Europe's oldest Tibetan Buddhist Monastery and is open to day visitors.
Wanlockhead is the highest village in Scotland. The Museum of Lead Mining shows the history of the local industry.
The Southern Upland Way was Britain’s first coast-to-coast long distance footpath. It passes less than a mile from the Club Site.
The Camera Obscura in Dumfries is on the top floor of the old windmill.
Fishing is available at the Hammerlands Centre, next to the site.
The woollen mill next to the site has a weaving exhibition and a tearoom.
New Lanark World Heritage Site includes a beautifully restored 18th century cotton mill.
